About the Role:
Machine operators set-up, operate, and maintain machinery, usually in a manufacturing setting. They are responsible for ensuring the machine produces high quality products, runs smoothly and at capacity, and is properly maintained. The ideal candidate should be able to stand 80% of the time per shift (if required), be capable of routinely lifting and moving items up to 50lbs, moving and manipulating larger loads using pallet jacks and warehouse equipment, as well as having forklift experience.
Responsibilities Include:
- Operate and monitor production equipment, including respirator/mask machines and recycling systems.
- Set up and start machinery, ensuring proper operation and performing basic quality checks.
- Complete production documentation and records during shifts.
- Monitor machine performance to ensure safe, consistent, and efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate major incidents, downtime, or safety concerns as needed.
- Identify and report product defects or quality concerns.
- Follow all quality, regulatory, and safety standards (ISO 13485, NIOSH, GMP, WorkSafeBC, and company policies).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of production and work areas.
- Perform routine equipment checks and ensure tools are in safe working condition.
- Assist with packaging, warehouse operations, material handling, and general facility support.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of machine operator experience.
- Experience in PPE manufacturing or plastics recycling industry is a strong asset (recycling experience highly desirable).
- Forklift experience is considered an asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work safely and comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong punctuality, organization, and teamwork skills.
Compensation:
- $23.00 to $27.00 CAD per hour.
