About the Role:
Vitacore Is seeking a Director of Finance to lead and evolve the company's financial function as we continue to scale. This is a high impact roll that blends strategic finance leadership with hands on execution, working closely with the President and leadership team to guide the financial direction of the business.
 
You will be responsible for building, strengthening, and aligning the finance and accounting function, ensuring strong fundamentals while developing forward-looking financial insights that support growth, investment, and decision making.
 
This role goes beyond reporting. You will help shape budgets, guide R&D and operational investments, and provide clear, actionable financial insights to leadership. You will play a key role in translating complex financial data into direction for the business.
 
At the same time, this is not a purely top-level role. You will be expected to stay close to the numbers, support and elevate the accounting function, and ensure consistency, accuracy, and high standards across the team.
 
We are looking for someone who can operate at both levels - thinking strategically about where the business is going, while also building the structure, discipline, and team needed to get there.
 
Responsibilities include:
Financial Leadership & Strategy:
  • Partner closely with the President and leadership team on strategic planning, growth initiatives, and key business decisions.
  • Lead company wide budgeting, forecasting, and long term financial planning.
  • Provide clear financial insights and recommendations to support decision making across R&D, manufacturing, and commercial activities.
  • Develop financial models to support pricing, investment decisions, and scenario planning.
 
Finance & Accounting Oversight:
  • Oversee the full finance function, including accounting, reporting, audit, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting across the business NYU line establish and maintain strong financial process is, systems, and controls as the company scales.
  • Stay close to the accounting function to ensure alignment, accuracy, and consistency.
 
Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members, setting a high standard for performance and accountability.
  • Create alignment across the team in processes, expectations, and financial discipline.
  • Support the development of team members, including elevating accounting staff and building future finance capability.
 
R&D, Manufacturing & Operational Support:
  • Partner with R&D and operations teams to support project budgeting, cost tracking, and resource allocation.
  • Provide financial guidance on product development, grant funded initiatives, and innovation projects.
  •  Support manufacturing scale up, costing, margin analysis, and operational efficiency initiatives.
 
Cash Flow, CapEx & Financial Management:
  • Oversee cash flowing planning, working Capital Management, and capital allocation.
  • Support CapEx planning, equipment financing, and investment decisions.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify risks and opportunities.
 
External & Strategic Finance:
  • Support fundraising activities, financial diligence, and investor or board-level reporting as required.
  • Manage relationships with external partners including auditors, banks, advisors, and funding partners.
  • Support grant reporting, compliance, and financial documentation.
 
Skills and Qualifications:
  • 10 plus years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including leadership roles.
  • Experience operating at a controller, director, or VP finance level in a growth stage or scaling organization.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience building or scaling finance functions, systems, and teams.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, inventory, and costing.
  •  Experience supporting R&D environments, grants, or innovation driven businesses is an asset.
  • Experience with CapEx planning, cash flow management, and financial strategy.
  • CPA designation required; MBA or CFA is an asset.
  •  Advanced excel skills; Experience with QuickBooks, MS Dynamics, or ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into clear business insights.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, involving environment with a high degree of ownership.
 
Compensation:
  • From $150,000 to $200,000 CAD per annum.
